It’s your plan, not ours.
We’re here to advise and support you.
We’re here to advise and support you.
You’re in control of your life. We never force our clients to do anything they don’t want to do.
We’re available when things come up, when you have a question. Life doesn’t generally wait 3-6 months for an appointment.
We adjust our planning process and agenda to your priorities, to anything new or urgent you want to address first.
We won’t let you leave our conversations unsettled or unsure.
Financial Planning is a collaborative process that helps maximize your potential for meeting your life goals through financial advice that integrates all the relevant elements of your personal and financial circumstances. We work with you continually to develop, implement, monitor and adjust your plan over time; your life changes frequently, your plan needs to adapt accordingly.
The plan comes first, investing supports it, so we manage your investable assets to enable your plan. Your plan’s needs and objectives produce a personal investment policy (how you want your money invested). We implement that policy using Passive Investing strategies.
If you wish to manage your own investments, we’ll support you in that work.
We’ll also help you manage and monitor your “held-away” accounts to align them with your investment policy.
Our approach integrates life planning with financial planning. We’ll define and design your unique version of “financial success.” Within this framework, we develop a comprehensive financial plan that aligns with your values, priorities, and life goals.
It typically requires 4-6 meetings across 3-6 months to get to a full draft of a comprehensive plan.
Following delivery of an initial financial plan, we generally meet with you between two and four times per year to understand any changes in your circumstances, review your plan and progress, and adjust and refresh the plan to reflect changes in circumstances.
A quick call to see if our services fit your needs, and if you want to explore further.
Our first meeting provides you insight into the approach and what it's like to work with us, while also starting the actual work. We'll talk about your financial life, past and present. We'll also cover our services and deliverables in as much detail as you need. After this meeting you can decide if you want to engage our services.
We’ll dive deeper into What’s Important to You and start refining and incorporating all your financial data into the draft plan.
We’ll make sure the basics of your draft plan are all in place, and we’ll begin collaborating on priorities.
We’ll take on major financial plan topics prioritized in accordance with What’s Important to You: Investing, Tax, Education, Debt, Student Loans, Retirement, Plan Risks. We’ll work together on implementation of changes.
Proactive, Annual, Responsive: We’ll move into a continuous ongoing cycle of ENOW providing active quarterly updates on your plan (usually via video updates), meeting for a full annual plan refresh, and providing responsive advice for life events, changes, and what-ifs as needed.
Financial systems are unclear, complicated, and they change all the time. You can chase the information for days – it’s all out there – but it’s cryptic and too plentiful. We will help you sort through choices clearly, with insight, and without jargon.
What are your values? Can you name them? Does your money life support them? We will get you to a place where what you do with your money aligns with what you say is important.
We will help you define your meaning of financial independence, then we will help you get there. We’d love to help you get there faster.
Should you pay off this loan first or save more? Should you save more or invest more? We will help you sort out the decisions and take care of first things first.
We like doing the numbers and the planning. Maybe you don’t – so many reasons. Let us do it for you.
We will teach you (not lecture you, shame you or judge you) about the details so that you can build your comfort and confidence around your money. We will help you learn as much or as little as you like, but we will insist that you know enough to make informed decisions.
Can you buy a Sprinter? Can you quit your job to become a letter carrier or a park ranger? Can your family spend 3 middle-school years in South America? If it’s not possible, We’ll be honest with you, but if it is possible, We’ll show you how it can work. Then all you need to do is decide.
Many of us (all of us?) grew up with taboos or discomfort around money. We sometimes feel ignorant, ashamed, or simply anxious. Bring. It. On. You talk, we listen, and we make some real progress.
